The Science Garden at Thinktank has taken three years to build. It cost ?2.8 million, features themes of engineering, mechanics and transportation and has 42 exhibits and fun zones rippling through a space which is unique in the UK and matched by few cities elsewhere across the world.

But beyond the statistics, what you?ll really want to know about is some of the more astounding creations available for your delectation in this playful paradise: namely, a giant, human-sized hamster wheel with a dizzying top speed, an ?elasticated squirter? which uses elastic potential energy, two propellers linking Hurricane and Spitfire fighter planes, a huge ?weighing station? and a ?pulley me up?.

The touchy-feely garden ? the first collaboration in a new alliance between Thinktank and Birmingham?s Museums and Art Gallery ? forms part of the larger Eastside City Park, the first new city centre park in Birmingham for more than 100 years. Family activities are planned throughout the summer.
