Seventh Heaven with Jazz and Country

Girl with Pink Umbrella by Kelly Ann RamseyYou don?t have to do anything special to support??For The Seventh Generation.? All you have to do is share what you?re good at doing?once a year.

The not for profit For The Seventh Generation (FTSG) helps disadvantaged youth by helping them find needed services. For example a child with a severe overbite?may be able to find help with an orthodontist or a child interested in photography may get help and tips from a pro or serious amateur.

This weekend, FTSG hold its annual fundraiser: In Seventh Heaven ? Magic and Music in Motown. The gala is Saturday, June 30, beginning at 7 p.m. at The Roostertail. The fun includes live performances by Jazz ensemble Straight Ahead and Country rockers? The Jill Jack Band.

Tickets for In Seventh Heaven ? Magic and Music in Motown are $100 per person and are available online through the For The Seventh Generation website. Space is limited; reserve early.

From FTSG:

On Saturday, June 30, the Roostertail will play host to some of the metro area?s most well-known and loved entertainers during a fundraising event for an organization that benefits foster children in Wayne County.

Perennial Detroit Music Award winners the Jill Jack Band and radio host Linda Lexy will join the Grammy-nominated jazz ensemble Straight Ahead on the Roostertail?s indoor and outdoor stages during In Seventh Heaven ? Magic and Music in Motown, the annual fundraising event for For The Seventh Generation, a Wayne County organization that matches foster children with donations of goods and services. The event will begin at 7 p.m.

In addition to the headline entertainment, other notable members of metro Detroit?s music and artistic communities have also come forward to support the event. Park West Gallery, Kelly Ramsey Photography, and Kid Rock have made donations of items for the event?s raffle, which will also feature sheet music and other items signed by Motown legend Abdul ?Duke? Fakir of the Four Tops.

?For The Seventh Generation does fantastic work for foster kids in Wayne County ? they match children with orthodontic care, make it possible for them to do cool things like create their own comic books, and they?ve even come up with prom dresses for teens in foster care who couldn?t otherwise afford to go to the prom,? said Lexy, who hosts the weekly show ?Linda Lexy?s Party Train? live from the MotorCity Casino/Hotel?s Radio Bar. ?I?m thrilled that the In Seventh Heaven organizers asked me to host, and I really look forward to sharing the stage with Jill Jack and Straight Ahead.?

This year?s In Seventh Heaven will also mark the launch of Play It Forward!, a new signature program in conjunction with Sonya Mastick, owner of the The Lesson Rooms in Royal Oak, to provide free music lessons and instruments to foster children.

?Anyone who has heard Jill Jack perform knows that she?s one of the hottest acts out there ? not just in the metro Detroit area, but in the country,? said Mastick, a music industry insider with more than twenty years? experience. ?Between Linda Lexy, Jill Jack, Straight Ahead, and the other surprises we have planned, I know that our guests will leave In Seventh Heaven feeling they?ve just had a real night to remember ? and they?ll no doubt enjoy that special glow that comes from knowing that their fantastic evening has been in service to a fantastic cause.?

?We changed the focus of our event this year, making it more of a party, in part because we?re very excited about the way that metro Detroit?s musicians and artists are coming together to support For The Seventh Generation and help us expand our programming,? said Lorraine Weber, FTSG executive director and member of the In Seventh Heaven organizing committee. ?For The Seventh Generation is about helping foster children thrive, and with the launch of Play It Forward we?ll be able to make hundreds of children?s dreams come true in the years to come.?

?We?re very grateful to have Linda Lexy, Jill Jack, and Straight Ahead as our headliners, and we?re very excited to have such a wide variety of fantastic prizes ? including two guitars signed by Kid Rock ? at our raffle,? Weber continued.

For The Seventh Generation is a project of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Foundation in cooperation with the Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan and the Michigan Department of Human Services. Get more information on the organization here.
