The Noodle Will Fight No More Fires, But Will He Cook Or Punch Folks Out During Community Service? (CA) - Raphael Davis, the former Los Angeles city firefighter who participated in mixed martial arts fights as "The Noodle" while claiming that he could not work because of injuries he sustained while fighting fires, has pled guilty to workers' compensation insurance fraud. He has been ordered to perform 200 hours of community service and make restitution of $30,000.?? Read more

Corrections Officer Arrested By His Own Department For Workers' Compensation Fraud Related Charges (NY) - Timothy E. Ross, a corrections officer with the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, has been arrested by detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office for grand larceny, offering a false statement for filing, insurance fraud, falsifying business records, and committing a fraudulent practice. Officer Ross had been receiving workers' compensation benefits intermittently since 2008 after sustaining an on duty injury. An investigation revealed that Ross was allegedly performing physical tasks that he had claimed he could not perform in disability benefits claims documents that he had submitted to the county.?? School District Security Guard Pleads Guilty To Workers' Compensation Insurance Fraud For Double-Dipping (CA) - Julio Santiago, a security guard for the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District, has been pled guilty to fraud for secretly working while he was collecting workers' compensation benefits. Santiago, who served 2 days in jail, must perform 119 days of community service and pay restitution of $10,600. He had claimed that he was unable to work after he had injured his knee at his school job, but while he was collecting workers' compensation benefits, he was also working as a security guard for another employer.?? 3 F's - Probation Officer Who Placed Foster Kids Arrested For Fraud and Forgery (CA) - Rochelle Williams, a Los Angeles County probation officer who worked with foster children, has been arrested on charges of workers' compensation insurance fraud and forgery. Between November 2009 and July 2010, Williams allegedly received disability insurance benefits for a fictitious back and neck injury from an insurer totaling $12,000 by manufacturing nine disability claim forms she submitted to the insurer, by forging her doctor's signature on every claim form, and by forging the necessary signatures of other Los Angeles County Probation personnel.??
