RUMOR: Sony to Drop Dualshock Design for PlayStation 4 Controller

Sony is set to bring an end to the traditional Dualshock controller with the PlayStation 4, according to a new report.

A senior games studio source working on an upcoming Sony game claims that the PlayStation 4?s controller has gone through numerous iterations, and only a few of them resemble the famous Dualshock design. Sony is said to be experimenting with versions of the PlayStation 4 controller which include biometric sensors on the grips and an LCD touch screen, according to the source.

A second source connected to Sony claims that engineers are ?trying to emulate the same user interface philosophies as the PS Vita.? This obviously references to the handheld?s touch screen capabilities, however, I?m not too sure how well it would translate to a controller without having a repeat of the Wii U GamePad. I?m certain that no Sony fan wants that for the PlayStation 4.

Even if the PlayStation 4 moves away from Dualshock controllers, it?s a safe bet that the PlayStation 3 controllers will be compatible, allowing players to keep hold of the Dualshock goodness.

How do you feel about losing Dualshock controllers? Let us know in the comments below.
