If you like taking your brains to the movies, then ?Son of Sardaar? is tiring, loud and you may want to sit this one out. You?ll leave the theatre with your ears ringing and the din of a thousand exploding crackers in the street will sound like sweet music. But to be fair, the makers of this movie did not lie. The trailers and songs of Ajay Devgn?s production promised reason- & gravity-defying entertainment and on these counts, SOS delivers.

Jassi (Ajay Devgn), who lives in London, receives a letter from India, that requires him to travel back to Punjab to sell his father?s fields. He?s warned not to go because of a long standing family feud with revenge-hungry Billoo Paaji (Sanjay Dutt), who?s keen to avenge his uncle?s death at the hands of Jassi?s father. Jassi throws caution to the wind and no sooner does he land, does he find himself taken by soni kudi Sukh?s (Sonakshi Sinha) charms. As luck would have it, Sukh is related to Billoo and Jassi must now find a way to escape the clutches of the blood thirsty family and claim his lady love.

Predictably, this one?s all about Devgn ? his goofy antics, iron fists and bouncing pecs. Fans will be left hooting in their seats when he makes his grand entry atop two horses, or when he sends goons flying through walls with a single punch. Action is what Devgn excels in ? his funny guy and romantic hero acts are less tolerable. Sonakshi is pretty, but is a merely a dream sequence song prop. To include a bit of everything, ?Son of Sardaar? throws in a lot of comedy but most scenes are stretched out too long. Juhi Chawla (charming) and Dutt (who resembles an overweight, desi Severus Snape from the Harry Potter movies) have the funniest lines, but they are weighed down by their enthusiastic, though unfunny co-stars.

?Son of Sardaar? is mostly illogical but offers a laugh now and then. It also has bombastic action sequences that break every law of motion. This is entertainment, Singham style. And if that?s your cup of tea, go watch it.
